Canard Development Group (Canard) is a multidisciplinary project modeled after similar North American development corporations, which control the progress of (ex)urban environments. Canard is a development company that manipulates the tropes of corporate identity to create the ‘idea’ of plausible spaces of operation. Canard is based on a deliberately obscure blending of fact and fiction--a conception inspired by 1960s British visionary architecture of Archigram and Cedric Price. Canard‘s multidisciplinary installation comprises of a mobile presentation centre suspended by balloons, a group of ‘sales agents’ marketing A.I.R (Architectual Inflatable Retreat), Canard‘s latest home unit, a brochure and a website www.canarddevelopmentgroup.com. Although rooted in a fictitious performance, the project relates to the issues and ideas about the urban development and design.
